Tailored to your needs.
I love working with individuals, couples, and families of different ages and stages, and treating issues across the lifespan.
Therapy for Adults
At some point, you realized change was possible. You took the first step and you’re here. Now, you may be wondering, “Where do I go from here?” What I love about therapy is that it is not prescriptive. What you bring to therapy makes you unique. Our time together will be spent understanding your desire for change. Maybe you’ve been hurting for a while. Perhaps you are stuck. Whatever your reasons, this is a safe and accepting place to figure it out.
I love helping people understand their “why” and figure out their “how.” My approach is relaxed and focused on you. We will work together to define and achieve your unique goals. We will go at your pace, but I will gently push you when needed. We may discuss hard things, but we will also laugh and have fun. You will realize the strengths, resources, and value already within you that will help you move in the direction you want to go. Most importantly, you will leave each session feeling heard, understood, and respected.
Therapy for Couples
I love working with couples. Having a deep and meaningful connection with someone else can be extremely fulfilling. And sometimes those connections need attention. You may just be starting out, dating or engaged, and seeking a firm foundation as you begin your life together. Perhaps you’ve been together for several years and find yourself stuck in familiar patterns of conflict. Maybe you’re trying to discern whether it’s still worth fighting for, disconnected from years of parenting, hurt by infidelity, or navigating many of life’s unforeseen challenges.
I work with couples at any stage to strengthen relationships and restore connection. When I work with partners, I take the side of the relationship, making sure each of you feel heard, understood, and respected. We will work collaboratively to understand your problem and find ways to achieve resolution that is in both of your best interests. With couples, I utilize several research-backed models, including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, and Restoration Therapy.
Therapy for Preteens and Adolescents
Childhood can be a challenging and uncertain time. Then comes adolescence, when teens are straddling the line between youth and adulthood, discovering who they are, and all the emotions that go along with it. These developmental stages are not for the faint of heart!
I hold a special place for my work with pre-teens and adolescents. Prior to Nashville Therapy Group, I worked with kids and teens, both individually and in groups, at Daystar Counseling. Youth are creative, funny, thoughtful, resourceful, and valuable persons worthy of my time and attention.
I am also excited to offer play therapy and other creative modalities for my clients. I hold a specialization in play therapy from Lipscomb University and use both child centered and directive play therapy in my approach. In addition, having a background in the creative arts, I love incorporating art with therapy as a way to express and heal. Creative play, art, and movement is a powerful therapeutic tool for kids, teens, and even adults. Some people communicate through these mediums in the same way others communicate through words. In this way, play and other creative outlets create opportunities for people to address and work through problems they may be experiencing.
Therapy for Families
I take an approach that is collaborative and values both youth and parents in the therapeutic process. As parents, you also need support as you search for the best ways to support the children you love. I like to say “we don’t know what we don’t know.” This is true for parenting. Every day is a new adventure. I look forward to discussing how I can help you on your journey as you navigate life together.
Online Therapy
Therapy should be accessible and available to everyone. While I believe in-person therapy is powerfully effective and rewarding, there are many benefits to online therapy as well. A global pandemic taught us that no matter where we are, technology affords us the opportunity to stay connected. I am pleased to offer remote, online therapy services to any person residing in the state of Tennessee. Whether you live in a part of the state and do not have an in-person option close to you, or circumstances do not allow you to come in-person some weeks, quality mental healthcare should still be accessible for you.
